1. our beginnings
I wanted to create a home for our guests that was special. It had to feel private, exciting, luxurious in experience but affordable in price. Before Spencer’s, New York City only offered the extremes; 'cheap and cheerful' experiences wherein hygiene didn’t feel prioritized and licensed therapists were scarce, or $400+ treatments at an upscale guest-only hotel spa. In between, there are many millennial cookie cutter concepts with little to offer in the areas that I most value in my weekly ritual. Spencer's is my ode to quality, service, nostalgia, aesthetic and relaxation.

A lofted sanctuary above the city streets, drawing on Japanese Ryokan and Italian resort influence in service of the guest journey.

Once home to Sidney Poitier, a 1920's residence reimagined with the quiet elegance of Provence, sun-washed and grounded.

A comfortable, safe space influenced by life in Japan and southern Europe, with luxurious textures and low-lying ryokan-inspired treatment rooms.

Every Spencer's treatment can be customized to our clientele's specific needs, part of a thoughtful wellness program built around regular treatments with maximum impact at the lowest relative cost. In a world asking for more and giving less, our community craves establishments that do the opposite. Our guests are self-aware and conscientious, searching for clean, hygienic, comfortable, safe, design-forward spaces to enjoy, visiting us often with friends and family as part of a regular self-care routine. We are not the venue for hardcore services requiring invasive techniques or long recovery times, nor highly specific medically targeted treatments. We keep things simple, focused on the value of exceptional treatments, products and customer service.
